RI Woman Runs Newport 10-Miler on Wedding Day - In Her Wedding Dress

That woman running through Newport in her wedding dress on Sunday wasn't late for her vows, but she did get married later in the day.

That woman running around Newport in a wedding dress last Sunday?

She wasn’t late for her wedding, though she did get married that day.

It was none other than Rhode Island’s Linda Bachand, an avid runner whose wedding day didn’t get in the way of her running in the Newport 10 Miler this past Sunday.

She ran the race and got married later in the day to her love, Seann Jackson. And she did both in a lovely white wedding dress to give her run a bit of flair and to celebrate her day of matrimony.

With 55 marathons under her belt since 2012, she saw that the Newport 10-miler coincided with her wedding day.

“We had to incorporate it into the day,” Bachand said.

Bachand and Jackson have partnered together on the Endurance Sports Connection, a national, non-profit group that serves as a membership site dedicated to educating, informing and inspiring people to reach their health goals through endurance athletics.

This is not the first time Bachand has gone to great lengths in a costume. Bachand has beared the likeness of Princess Leia in a Star Wars-themed race, a race horse and jockey for a race in Lexington, Kentucky, and countless wigs and other accessories that add enjoyment for both her and other runners.

The Newport 10 Miler offers runnings a enjoyable and scenic run that begins and ends at historic Fort Adams. The race sold out this year and raised about $15,000 for the Fort Adams Trust.

Providence’s Geoff Nelson was the first man to finish the race with a time of 53:36. Amanda Nurse, of Boston, Mass., was the top woman finisher with a time of 1:00:22.

Bachand, 47, finished with a time of 2:00:12 while wearing bib No. 95.

Bachand said that she runs every weekend, so a quick ten mile run before getting ready for the wedding was a great idea.
